Nvidia SHIELD Discussion Thread (Out Now) - Page 2

Erm, I would assume so. Haven't tried yet because I have my phone on me all the time and honestly I could only test facebook. I don't/won't use the other two. Don't even like FB that much rolleyes.gif

But yeah, it has some native Droid apps on it and the playstore looks exactly the same. I think it's safe to say you wouldn't have any problems. Touch screen works perfectly, just like a phone or tablet would.

Well I will give it a go and see how it works :)

I hear some Gameloft games are not working with Shield so far which is a bummer.

An android device that is not compatible with android games sound bad.

Anyhow, it seems there are people out there whom are trying to OC Nvidia Shield over at Nvidia Forums biggrin.gif

I just got one, I primarily got it as a portable emulator which it does nearly perfectly. All buttons and sticks can be assigned and work perfectly with every system I've tried so far. Some emulators have issues assigning one of the sticks and the triggers but there are alternatives that work just as well for every system. Get perfect speed on most n64 and playstation games and once a real dreamcast emulator comes out it seems like it could likely do that as well. Get upwards of 12 hours game time for most emulators and lower game time on the games that are actually tegra 4 optimized and utilize the gpu. It probably is too expensive for most people for that but this is something I've been waiting for for a long time, the psp could do it but not nearly as well as this. I need to upgrade my router to try game streaming so I'll be getting that soon to test that out.

According to Linus' Nvidia Event stream, you get $100 off from Shield when you buy a GPU.

So just $199 for Shield.

mad.gif Oh well. I knew a price drop would happen and I already owned a capable GPU with no desire to upgrade at this point, but so soon? Honestly I think they should have done that to begin with but it sold well out of the gate for those of us that really wanted it. I've used the crap out of mine and am still happy with my purchase.

Shield is actually a GREAT device and it serves its purpose but its not for many people.

However the price drop could lead people to purchase more of these littlie things.

But let's not forget that the price drop is only for the people who purchase a Nvidia GPU

Well yeah, for one it's their gadget. The other is, why on earth would you buy one if you were rocking an AMD card? It won't work with it tongue.gif
