Budget gaming rig (mainly World Of Warcraft)

I'm going to build a computer for my brother. He pretty much only plays WoW. It's going to be the first time i build a computer.
I have selected the components but i still have some questions and i'm not sure of a few things. I'll order everything from amazon.de.

-Intel Core i3 3240
WoW is poorly threaded so a dual core should be fine. I don't want to go AMD because i don't want to overclock and i think i would need to do that to reach same performance as the 3240.

-Gigabyte GBT GA-Z77-DS3H
I don't know much about mobos but i heard good things about gigabyte mobos. Is this one ok? Anyone knows the difference between this one and the GA-Z77-D3H and the GA-H77-DS3H?

-Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
This is just because my current rig has the default intel cooler and i'm tired of it getting so dusty and thermal paste drying out so fast. On partspicker it said that this cooler makes quite a lot of noise, i would prefer not too much noise so will it be fine if i dont overclock (so temps are pretty low)?

-Kingston HyperX PC3-12800 Arbeitsspeicher 8GB

-Western Digital WD5003AZEX Black 500GB interne Festplatten
I first considered an SDD but going with this in the end, it safes a good amount of money and this will already be a lot faster than the 7y old seagate i have now. This one has 64 MB cache, is there a noticeable difference with 32 MB cache?

-MSI ATI Radeon HD 7770 Grafikkarte
Monitor is 1280x1080. So i think this is enough to play WoW on ultra.

-NZXT Tempest 210 Midi-Tower PC-Gehäuse
This is kinda weird. It says it's a micro-ATX but to me it looks like it has the size of an ATX. I dunno if it's a german thing to name ATX cases micro ATX since there isn't an ATX search option on amazon.de. I also compaired the size of this case with ATX cases on amazon.com and they are about the same size.

-Samsung SH-222BB/BEBE
Apparently this doesn't come without any cables. The motherboard will have SATA cables right?

Be quiet! BN144 System Power 7
-500W. More than enough. Be quiet is good quality right?

What is your budget?

If you need a cheap option then an i3 with a B75 motherboard will be good.

Don't really have a budget. I just want to keep it cheap.

That should be fine for WOW. You are right about it not using more then two cores and requires a cpu with high IPC and single thread performance. You could reduce the price and get a pentium but the hyperthreading on the i3 will help in other tasks.

The i3 cannot be overclocked so getting a z77 board is not worth it. Unless you are looking to upgrade to an unlocked i5 or i7 later then a good quality B75 motherboard is all you need.

I have not included the hyper 212 as i could not find it on pc part picker but that should be fine for an i3

If you want to spend the extra and go for 8 gb (2x4gb reccomended) then that would be a good upgrade. 4gb will be fine for WOW though

In everyday use, you will not notice the difference between 32mb and 64mb cache. Unless you are working with very large files or moving lots of files at the same time then you wont benefit from 64mb.

I have heard of AMD 7000 series cards (7770 included) having problems with dx9 games. This problem may have been fixed so its worth finding out about this. I have included a GTX 650ti which offers better performance anyway.

The NZXT tempest 210 is an ATX sized case

Yes, the motherboard will include sata cables. You can spend slightly more money to get a retail version of the drive which means that it is fully boxed and untouched.

The Be quiet PSU looks ok. The xfx psu i chose is known to be of good quality and is made by seasonic.

The last thing i will mention though is that the motherboard i chose is micro atx so it will restrict how many pci cards you can install.

I hope that answered your question thumb.gif
