Do I have a "Golden Chip"? 3770k - Page 2

Congrats....The silicon lottery always favors people who buy air coolers for some reason. lol Every chip I've bought has been terrible. Like the guy above, mine takes 1.325v for 4.6ghz.

Finally I win the silicon lottery!

I nearly broke it too when I delidded it rolleyes.gif

I do plan to get a monster custom watercooling loop and get past 5 GHz soon

Any parts recommendations?
Could I fit two 480mm rads in my case? wink.gif

Nice chip korruptive, I see your in UK where did you buy it from out of curiosity? Almost all my UK bought cpus have been poor or average at best for overclocking.

Unless you are going to delid that 4770k, I wouldnt bother using watercooling on it.

I got it off amazon, and I already delidded it.
The temps weren't actually that bad before I delidded it which was strange, I've seen peoples chips like this.

3.5 GHz
Stock Cooler
Core 1 - 90c
Core 2 - 71c
Core 3 - 80c
Core 4 - 68c

Really uneven temps, mine were all very even and low before delidding.

Mine was more like this
3.5 GHz
Hyper 212 EVO
Core 1 - 50c
Core 2 - 52c
Core 3 - 54c
Core 4 - 49c

I'd say at that budget you'd be looking at a rasa xspc rx360 kit.

In general, if an ivy bridge can get into windows at 5Ghz with 1.3V or less, it is getting pretty golden.

That's how I define a golden chip. Your chip may use low voltage for 4.5/4.6GHz but if it doesn't scale well it's not golden.
