How so? Although there are a laundry list of items as to why an external dac is superior, here's one for starters. With an external DAC, you can move the Digital > Analog conversion away from the case, thereby reducing the potential interference involved. Also, you aren't limited by the space provided in one pci-e slot (used by many, if not most high end souncards) for the circuitry. Many of us on this website build desktops rather than simply buying laptops for the sake of modularity, whether directly or indirectly--with a few of us being entirely oblivious to this fact. By separating all the internals we are given better control and better quality components ultimately leading to beastly rigs that are exceedingly capable. In my opinion, while it isn't obvious, buying an external DAC vs a high end sound card is a similar decision to building a desktop vs buying a prepackaged laptop. Though today's laptops are capable of great things, they will never match the modularity of hand built custom desktops. Similarly a high quality external DAC will for the lack of a better word, will "pwn" high end sound cards of today.
But again, this is just my opinion.
Also, did anyone else notice Windows 7 Professional
in their build list for $9500? I understand most people may not need a copy of Ultimate, but honestly for that much money how are you going to package Windows 7 Professional?
