Upgrading PC, haven't done this in awhile. Any help appreciated

So I've had a q6600 since they came out and I think it's about time to upgrade. I really like my case, I have a GTX 680 4GB, Asus Xonar Essence STX, and my Power Supply can power everything with no problems. So here's what I'm currently thinking about upgrading to:

Processor: i7 4770K

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H

Ram: G.SKILL Trident 32gb

SSD: SAMSUNG 840 Pro (256GB x 2 for Raid 0 or 512GB Single)

Storage Drive: Toshiba 3TB

CPU Cooling: Swiftech H220

This will be my first SSD in my main PC, I don't know if Raid 0 is worth it or not considering they are so fast anyway. But there is not much of a price difference between 2 256GB and 1 512GB. Any advice in this area would be great. I like the simplicity of the Swiftech H220 and the ability to add onto it in the future if I want to. I have had my q6600 for a long time and the only thing I've really had to upgrade over the years is my GPU. I would like to do that again, I want to get similar life out of this upgrade. If anyone can help to make some better choices please let me know, thanks.

Looks about right, a few modifications id recommend.

1. What in the world do you need 32gb for? 8gb is all you need for general computer use and gaming. Even 16gb would be for heavy users.
2. I've heard there's little difference between ud4h and ud3h. I'd go for the ud3h and save a bit.
3. I wouldnt bother with raid. The main thing that makes ssds feel so fast compared to mechanical is their access times, for which raid doesnt improve. 1 ssd is fine and great.

Other then that it looks good. HF with your new build smile.gif

Thanks the the suggestions. I was going with 32gb of ram to make it a little more future proof. I had to buy a ddr2 upgrade when ddr3 was main stream and it was way to expensive. So I figured I would just max it out now while the price was good.

I figured raid 0 wasn't really worth it. Thanks for the motherboard tip, I'll look into that one. I do like to save some money.

Well quite honestly unless you have some special uses 32gb its just a total waste of money. If you wont use it dont get it. Future proofing ram will do no good.
