Is it (tallent) roughly as fast as a Goliathus as another user said, or is it even faster? If It's faster I might give it a try.
No interest in the complexity is it is a slower pad. I still have a Mantis Control in near perfect condition if I ever want something with more friction.

just the shiden or artisan pads in general? I'm not sure if I'm interested in the shiden itself, it seems like it might be too hard to stop accurately and have some weird surface texture that makes it feel like plastic and make noise when you move the mouse around, but I could be confused about that.

From what I've gathered from the (super broken) english version of the artisan website, the hein is essentially supposed to be a cloth pad that feels like a plastic pad. So if it feels like a 4D, I guess it accomplishes that goal.
Personally, I don't like non-cloth pads though so I'm sure if I had gotten that pad I wouldn't like it either. Not really sure what the point of a cloth pad is if it feels like plastic, might as well just use plastic, but I guess some people like to roll them up for LANs and plastic would get screwed up.
It does seem kind of cool to me that they were able to achieve that goal though, even if it is only useful for a few users.
At any rate, the Artisan's I'm looking at are the Hayate, Raiden, and Zero. hopefully someone who has used one of those will stumble into this thread.
