I've read that the Vapor X is supposed to be the superior cooler and that they use "Black Diamond" components in that model which are more resistant to voltage and heat. I could be wrong. I've literally been up all night reading reviews and forum posts. frown.gif

if the vapor-x is cheaper get it. but the vapor-x cooler takes 2.5 slots. so for CF you need 3 slots in between the 2 cards. also i recommend waiting for the CF frame pacing driver to get a second HD 7970 card.

Aside from those, what specific models would you recommend? It's hard to decipher which ones are voltage locked and which aren't, not to mention the prices for anything but these Sapphire cards are still high so I'd probably have to find them used.

Thanks!

Woops you may be right on that. Best bet is to get some reference or MSI Twin Frozr cards and water cool. I know for a fact those aren't voltage locked. But if water cooling isn't an option then you'll have to stick with voltage locked cards unless you go with the MSI.
