If you want to compare FPS in games a 680 series Nvidia card will yield 200-300% better performance, I'd assume more so when dealing with current gen games with DX11 support and what not. The energy efficiency is dominating on modern cards as well.

If you take it into perspective a single 680 can outperform tri sli'd 280s especially in modern games.
