Using your comparison...apple would be the console, and PC would be android. Let me explain. Yes your console (apple product) is "optimized" but only to do a set of X things. It does those X things very well....because that is ALL it can do, like on a console. (NOT modded)

The PC on the other hand is open, it has a basic interface which allows you to change something small, or change the entire way it looks and operates. It can do those very basic things JUST like the console (apple product), but it is designed in the hopes that it will do more, and it allows you to do so by not restricting so many things.

Man I love it when apple people defend their fashion statements.

except android and ios devices have a lot more in common than they do with pcs functionally. ie they are both basically glorified toys, cameras, and web devices. oh you mean you can fiddle with the ui on your android phone? yeah it's obviously equivalent to a pc. too bad it can't run any pro software, productivity software, pc games, and has a 5" screen

and i don't own an iphone, i own an evo 3d. because i don't care about phone performance beyond snappy browsing and it was cheap

iPhone 5s will look like iPhone 5. iOS 7 will disappoint (if it hasn't already) and Tim Cook will continue to look like he doesn't give a damn.
