Wacom Bamboo Create

Thread Starter
I just bought a Wacom Bamboo Create and I am wondering what you guys think of them! I bought it because I wanted to get into tablet drawing; it seemed like it would be a good way to practice drawing. Anyways, let me know what y'all think! thumb.gif

I will update this thread when I get mine, to say how I like it!

I use a Wacom Intuos3 12x9 tablet and do thoroughly enjoy it. They take a bit of time to get comfortable using and initially it will probably slow down your work flow. However, once you get used to it and you use it often you'll find that it's a great tool to have at your disposal.

Which size did you buy?

Ok, cool. Mine just arrived today, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet. I did notice that when I was playing around with a friend's tablet that I was much slower drawing with it and that it was kind of awkward to use. However I just thought that I would get used to that; so it's good to know that I am not the only one that felt weird using it at first.

And I bought the 8.5 x 5.4-Inches.

I am considering getting a Capture for sketches and doodles, nothing major, I am not an artist (more technical in detail, diagrams, flowcharts, mathematical formulas), and being able to do that in digital form would be handy. Still I am kind of wondering if I might be shooting myself in the foot if I get the smaller model (and there's a cheaper model at that size, so I'm also wondering if the touch input and cheap photoshop {I already have and use Gimp} is worth the premium.)

Hard to say where a thread on that goes, so I actually asked about it in other peripherals before seeing this (note to self, search by relevance isn't actually that relevant). I look forward to seeing how that works out for you. Maybe you could advise me once you get used to it.

Edit: *** this forum parses BB code odd, I had open bracket ([) 'I' and it made everything after that italic despite that not being a proper tag

I have an intuos4. Honestly I can't use photoshop or anything without it anymore.

I had a big intuos3 but I like drawing on a smaller tablet and went for the smallest size with the intuos4 most people probably feel differently but it is more manageable.

I've never even had the opportunity to use a tablet for photo editing, but it makes a mouse sound archaic for the purpose. Like nailing something with a sledge hammer, half the time you just put a hole in the wall.

I tend to prefer the smaller digitizers as I need access to my keyboard at all times.
The large models simply cannot co-exist on my desktop without blocking part of whole of the keyboard, or pushing it too far back.

I just got myself a Capture, and like it so far.
I haven't had the need to use it to draw anything in the couple days since I got it (and still practicing not making kindergarten quality sketches), but I did try out some photo editing, and I don't think I can use a mouse after that experience. I actually think, had I gotten the larger model, that would have been shooting myself in the foot since I actually shrunk my active area a bit.

I got a problem maybe one of you can help me out with. One of the thumb buttons is set up in settings as pan/scroll, and that works fine under windows and things like my browser, but GIMP and Autodesk Sketchbook Express (which came with the tablet) don't seem to recognize that. Is there a way to get drawing and image editing programs to pick up on the pan function so I can move the canvas with the pen?

I bought a create and I love it. I'll probably move up to an Intuos5 whenever the create stops working. I'd love to try a Cintiq though. Maybe one day I can have one of those.
