Graded on its own merits and usability the AMD chips perform more than adequately and its only once you compare them directly to Intel's best (and much more expensive) CPU's that they start to look average.
We can compare it to an i5-3570K/i5-4670K and it'll still get crushed at about the same price.
Yes the FX is fine for most people but so is a C2D; we are specifically talking about gaming.
I agree that their APUs have some value but mostly in laptops since it's so easy (and cheap) to install a dedicated GPU in a desktop. They are driving Intel to improve their own APUs so that's a good thing. Too bad AMD isn't giving Intel any incentive to improve their CPUs (not the APU part of it) and SB > IB > Haswell has been meh.

Any test used to get data and get true data will need guidelines to keep the test accurate. giving one chip a 40% OC and then the other 20% does not create an equal test. Simple way is both stock or both with same % OC. Results from tests with that give accurate results and data that can be used. For instance, Say at 20% OC you get a 13% increase, at 40% you might like or expect 26% but you get 22%. So if you truly wanted to keep the test fair, bench at diff % intervals and see how they scale. That is another test of the chips as well. Think about it this way, what if we gave FX a 30% OC and the Intel a 10% OC. Now would you feel that was fair. No. Youd be screaming injustice.
That's a terrible reason. The point of overclocking is to get the maximum performance out of your computer; both of those chips are around their maximum and the i7 crushes the FX.Edited by I8THEBONES - 7/1/13 at 7:47pm
