The IB needed to be delidded, because the IHS wasn't soldered on.
Something they obviously changed, because my 3770k runs WAY cooler than the ones from the first batches when they came out.
I bought my rig several months ago as well. I had the choice to go Vishera, I looked at it. Decided the extra performance was worth it. IB was available over a year ago, in April/March.
Vishera 8 core was available... when? December? When the 3770k had been long available, and if you were after performance (as you must surely be if you want these 5ghz chips)
, you should have bought the tested and proven i7 instead.
If you are on a budget, which is totally fine, then by all means buy vishera. But it is looking like these new chips are just the same ones you already have, except they run at 5ghz, and cost 3-4 times as much, or more.
