LoL...I think you are kinda wrong about Europe...kinda.
That said, I moved in the US last few years, and despite making a better living than what I could dream about back home, it feels pretty much the same...freeloaders are everywhere.
And just like with europe having very very different economic conditions prevailing in different countries or even areas of the same country, the same goes for the US: yes, there are areas where the cost of housing and living is lower, but so are opportunities. Dirt-cheap land cost in the subberbs and the cheapest possible materials in construction makes for some relatively affordable houses, but good luck saving up even for that @ minimum wage.
Still, there is no way the MBP will be offered @ $2800 to - $4700 with the advertized top configuration- i.e. 12C CPU, dual 6GB Firepros. Not unless Apple decided that being one of the richest companies in the world will stop trying to milk money out of customers, and bleed some out instead starting with the Mac Pro.
