Does it have any greater effects other than aesthetics?

Assuming you don't get some cheap crap, there's zero chance of plasticizers, it doesn't kink (for obvious reasons) and here's the big one, it DOESN'T discolor. Many tubing will simply discolor over time and it ends up with a light brown/orange/yellow tint.
