Downloading Problems Looking for some answers Read On below Please

I have a Qnap NAS that allows remote downloading of files via an App built into the NAS called File Station, When I log onto my NAS from either local or outside my network and select a file for downloading It starts and ends in about 1 second and the end result on my destination drive is the file name that I wanted to download however it is just the container and not the entire file and the file size is Zero Bytes (0) Bytes.

The files are all RAR files, I have exhausted my attempts with QNap tech support to no avail, everything worked fine up until Friday 6/22/2013.
Everyone at QNap was saying it was probably the Permissions Config File, we reset that, no go, we tried different combinations of user names and Shared folders, creating test folders and user names, no go. There are no errors coming up in the NAS Logs, below I will list my configurations of the share.

Shared Folder name = Download>Software
Users attached are: Admin and customer
User Permissions for the account are have access to File Station and Read Only rights to any folders
Shared Folder Permissions for User: Admin are Full Access Read, Write, Delete, Upload, Download
Shared Folder Permissions for User: customer: Read Only and Download only assigned to the Software Folder.

Router is set up to gain DHCP IP address from Verizon and dish out local IP's and DNS addresses via DHCP
My Port Forwarding is correct forwarding the WAN IP to the Local NAS IP and port 8080
My NAS Server is set up as IP 192.168.0.4 and 192.168.0.10 in a Round Robin configuration both on port 8080
I will even give you the login info on how to access the system so you can play with it

email me at hb2kc.support@gmail.com or PM me here if you think you have a good suggestion or answer and I will give you the
Login info, as I dont want to blatently post it here for obvious reasons.

The one weird thing is if I try and download a Folder (mind you not a file) and that Folder has files in it, it auto ZIPS the Folder with its contents and downloads error free, when I unzip it on the destination computer everything is there in its correct File sizes.

Things I have tried outside of the QNap unit itself:
Changing Browsers
Changing Java versions
even tried using a download Manager
changing Firmware versions in the NAS
all no go.

I have recently been having problems with my router where it drops connection but where this problem is selectivley isolated to FILES only I have not considered the Router to be the cause.

I can go to any other site and download just fine by either direct download or download manager with no problems

The QNap NAS runs on Linux and the Samba Server

The final suggestion by QNap was to back up the NAS and re initialize it from scratch, ie: re establish the RAID, Format it, Initilize all the system folders, re install the most current firmware, re establish all of my shared folders and User accounts.

Before I go to that trouble and expense as I am going to have to buy a Mini NAS to use as a Backup destination Volume. Which I should do anyways but did not really want to just for this. I decided to hit up the forums and hope I ran into someone knowledgeable in this field of networking.

I am installing a new router Tomorrow as my old Netgear has had a long hard working life and is on its last legs it is a
Netgear WNDR4000 N750 Dual Band Wireless Router. Between the Router and the end use Wired devices I have a 24 Port Gigabit Switch.

End summary of equipment is as follows:
QNap TS 659 Pro II Turbo NAS w/ Intel Processor Dual Core w/ 3 GB memory
ISP is Verizon FiOS
Router is Netgear WNDR4000 N-750 Dual Band
Cabling is all CAT-6

Thank you all very much in advance for anything you have to offer

Regards

Do you have ssh access to the box?

If you do you can login though ssh and watch the processes to see what command the remote download is executing, then look for the error when you manuly run the command
