Or, im sorry. Install the card into the second slot, boot, shut down, then install the second card in the primary slot?

I had a similar issue, I had to do a clean format because I had swapped my motherboard, I'm guessing the previous drivers were conflicting.

gigabyte z68a-d3h-b3
Intel 2500k stock for now
8GB DDR3 Gskill 2132 MHz 9-11-10-28 CR1
assorted SSD's and regular HD's
2 MSI Nvidia 560 Ti GTX Twin Frozr's
1000 watt Rosewill PSU

Everything has the latest drivers, BIOS', etc. When I say this I don't mean to act like I know everything there is BUT, I am very computer literate, have been doing this 10+ years. So sorry if that sounds conceited. I just don't want simple answers like "update your drivers" "switch the cards" and things like that. Its all been tried. Now on to my problem.

SLI worked for over a year with another 560, the fan died so I had it RMA'd. After I got the replacement from MSI it installed perfectly, runs perfect and there is nothing wrong with it under load or otherwise. My PSU is sufficient as I have had these two in SLI before. The slots on my mobo both work as I have tried them both. I have also used two different SLI bridges to no avail. Ive swapped the cards into each others slots, nothing works. Device manager will not see the second card, and neither will Nvidia's drivers. 320.49 at the moment. The fans spin on the card, it IS receiving power and both cards work in the 16x slot, as well as the 8x slot as I have tried them both. Does anyone have any insight into why this is happening? Thanks for your time. If I left anything out please let me know, its 7AM here and im pretty tired. Thanks again.

got the same problems before with my 2 X GTX560Ti DC2, I would suggest to re seat both cards, try to take it out from the PCIe slot of course take the power chord off first then the card, re seat the each card making sure the PCIe pins of your card are in full contact or tightly fitted on the board PCIe slot and tighten the screws, make sure you have a good tight connection of the power chord onto your card.

that's what I did redface.gif

That's what driving me crazy. My setup is the EXACT same as it was with the previous GTX 560Ti. It makes no sense to me why it wont be recognized. If I had done any hardware changes that would be my thought as well. A motherboard swap is a big deal to the OS so I would assume that would be a problem. But nothing has changed hardware wise. I think I will boot with one card in my 8x slot and see what happens. (my mobo has a 16x slot and 8x slot, but in SLI they both only run at 8x). Wish me luck, should only take me 2 minutes. Thanks for your help everyone. If anyone has anything else to add I would GREATLY appreciate it. My two 560 Ti's run every game on max and its beautiful. Its been a sad few weeks for my eyes with only one card =(

Wait, you swapped your motherboard? I apologize, that confused me a bit.

the bridge shouldn't stop them from being recognized by windows although it does improve their performance in SLI

other than clearing cmos (already suggested)

uninstalling drivers / re-seating the cards / re-installing drivers (sounds like you have already done this)

they both work fine as a single gpu

both have their pcie power connected

when was the last time you reformatted your windows install?

I'd also suggest doing that, especially if you switch your motherboard, it can cause driver issues if you don't. Your hardware seems fine though, more than likely a software issue.

To SteZHD, I was referring to the gentleman who said his problem was replacing his mobo. I have not. I have the same exact system I had with the older 560, including mobo. sorry for the confusion.

And its been quite a long time since I reformatted to be honest haha. I just don't see how that would be a problem when absolutely NOTHING recognizes it. But of course it is a possibility. And I reset my CMOS to no avail. I think i'm going to call MSI and see if the new card they sent me may have a new video BIOS or something that is causing issues. Im not sure what else it could be. It all worked until I got the new card, even though both cards works solo, just not in tandem. Man, I've had so many computer troubles throughout the years like most of you, but this is really mind blowing. I do not understand at all =/. Theres only so much a consumer like us can do. It HAS to be an MSI problem. I don't know what else to think. ill give them a call (not that I expect much, which is why I came here) but I don't think they will have any solution. not to mention they don't open until 630AM pst, and im on the east coast so that's another hour and a half. Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm not to sure but I think differences between two cards can cause some detection issues, I can't tell you first hand but someone told me that (I know, not the greatest source). If all else fails then try formatting and I know how frustrating it can be, hope it works out soon thumb.gif.
