you mean msi lightning or asus matrix platinum. in terms of value for money the sapphire HD 7970 OC (1 ghz) rules thumb.gif even if you get an average overclock of 1100 - 1150 mhz you will match the stock performance of the matrix or lightning. and its USD 170 cheaper.

Get a 7970.

Yeah, the 7970 is a good choice. Its also going to have far worse performance than dual GTX 760s which fit in OP's budget. Or hell, two used HD 7950s would be a better option.

But doh.gif on not lasting long enough with 2GB of VRAM.....

All GPUs currently on the market will run out of GPU power before they are able to 100% utilize higher VRAM, hence why 4GB of VRAM on Nvidia cards is generally useless unless you are going triple card SLI. Same stuff with AMD cards.

And yeah, 2GB of VRAM is more than enough for 99.999999999999999999999999999% of the games on the market.

Would honestly suggest OP go full ATX to fit dual GPUs.

I am probably going to with raghu's solution. I mean I upgrade most of my pc for what I was originally going to spend on just the gpu. Am I within my power budget(600w) though?

But they don't, because to run them, he will have to get a new motherboard, and new motherboards cost money too.

an antec 600w can easily handle a core i5 2500k and a HD 7970 OC with heavy voltage overclocking. thumb.gif
