The problems with crossfire are blown out of proportion. Using 2 GPUs, you will have the occasional problem on one game or another, but overall it isn't that bad. I build a pc for my nephew using 2x Sapphire HD 6850s on an Asus P5Q Pro turbo and a Q8300, and he doesn't complain about anything at all. He isn't really all that good with computers, so I usually hear about everything as I am the one expected to fix it! I also have another friend with a Z77 Sabertooth, 3770k, and 2x Gygabite HD 7950s. I am kinda mentoring him on overclocking and advanced settings. His system handles most games flawlessly. My specs are in my signature, and overall, the crossfire setups have no more problems than my SLI. Which is very, very few!
