HP Envy or Llenovo Ideapad?

Thread Starter
So I found a good deal on the HP Evny 15-j000 and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get it over the Ideapad Y410.

The Envy is $834 after tax and the Thinkpad is $902 after tax

They both sport the same Haswell proc, GPU, and harddrive. The Envy has a superior resolution and screen size over the Ideapad.

My question is if there are any nuances of the Ideapad that makes it superior and worth the extra money. For example, is the monitor of better quality, the speakers, the keyboard, the build quality, etc?
Thanks

The GPU's are not the same (740M vs 750M). I absolutely love the build quality of the Lenovo's. If it were my decision, I would go for the Lenovo over the HP without a doubt! thumb.gif

OR

Lenovo use JBL Speaker, so I think they are a lot better sound quality than Beats. I'm not an audiophile, so I can't make an accurate answer saying it is better.
I only know that their sound qualities is really good from my dad.

The build quality, Lenovo, will win no matter what. It has better cooling than HP where it has a horrible cooling not to mention Lenovo is or was part of IBM.
Keyboard layout is pretty much depend on your style. I think Lenovo's monitor is probably better, but then again it won't really matter much since you aren't going to be smacking it, right?

For the touchpad, I think HP will win because it has a button while Lenovo's touchpad is integrated. I mean buttons as in left and right button. Lenovo is just integrated one and their touchpad is horrible and glitchy as hell. I had a rough time using it. If you will be using a mouse, then it won't really matter to you.

Beside, you are freaking comparing 14" to 15" laptop, so of course Envy has better screen size, lol. << No offense.
You should be comparing Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 to HP Envy 15". Which it'll make you want to choose Lenovo's laptop even more, it has an ultrabay, so you can add either a fan, HDD/SSD or even another GPU to make it a SLI.

It'll perform games a lot better.

Say, what are you going to be using the laptop for?
Gaming?

the ideapad got GDDR5 VRAM which make of it a way faster machine in terms of rendering (3D) etc...
