Update: After safely removing the thermal compound, cleaning off the thermal compound and applying new thermal compound with the CPU heatsink rotated 180 degrees my system will not POST. My system will boot for maybe 14 seconds and then shut off. Oddly enough my hardware temperature monitor says the system was only 24-26 C every time the shut off would occur. In the summertime where I live my my system will normally be between 24-29 C on idle.

Also, an update to my kludge-ry; I have replaced the tape with zip-ties! smile.gif A lot of blood, sweat and beers went into the making of this. (I had a muscle spasm and cut my thumb pretty bad on my heatsink.)
