"The fact of the matter is that while the benchmarks don’t necessarily show it, along with Skyrim we’ve seen Crysis clobber 1GB cards in the past, Shogun II’s highest settings won’t even run on a 1GB card, and at meanwhile Battlefield 3 scales up render distance with available video memory. Nearly half of our benchmark games do benefit from 2GB cards, a subjective but important quality."

"The first thing you notice while playing BF3 at Ultra with the AMD cards in our testing is that they have some significant performance issues with frame slowdowns. The solution would be to lower the IQ settings so that the issue would go away, but you can see that even though all four cards have a 1GB frame buffer, the NVIDIA GPUs are able to maintain higher minimum frame rates without the obnoxious and experience killing drops into the single digits. "
So basically it's an AMD problem? Figures.
