GDDR5 & DDR3 ?

Hello, I am unsure if this is in the right forum section but I could not find any others that would fit to this topic.

I have a few questions about the differences between GDDR5 and DDR3

I have read lots about both and keep becoming confused with all the information that I am receiving.

I am trying to work out what the difference between the both are.

is GDDR5 used for graphics ram and that alone and DDR3 used for the computers memory?

I am very confused as PS4 uses GDDR5

Thanks so If I understand correct GDDR5 is graphic card RAM and DDR3 is PC RAM. So does that mean I have GDDR5 AND DDR3 RAM in my pc?

I have a GTX560TI ASUS DC edition.

GDDR ram in general is typically set up to have very loose timing sets, despite having fairly high clock speeds.
With DDR ram, the general goal is a balance of tight timing and a decent clock speeds.

not sure what your system is but your gpu has gddr5 for sure. your pc will either have ddr2 or ddr3. ddr4 is not out yet.

fill out your sig (see Rigbuilder link at the upper right corner of this page).
