Upgrade to Samsung S4 from Iphone 4s? - Page 2

Yes of course. If you go on ebay when a new phone is launched, people are selling their "upgrade" phones before they have even received them.

Abysmal battery life (80% battery reduction in less than 10 hours)
Apps randomly close
Phone randomly crashes often, at least several times a week
Terribly frustrating internet usage, the screen constantly resizes and its almost impossible to actually go on the subject you click on

The list goes on...I used to own a iphone 3GS and then went to Galaxy S2, what a mistake that was. Im buying Iphone soon as my S2 contract is up.

I am the opposite... As a previous owner of the S2, and now an S4, and an iPad Mini, I would highly recommend the S4...

Good choice Op! Enjoy one of the fastest and greatest phones!

You sure can!!

I could have sold the iphone and bought a s4 outright then gone on a cheap plan but it would have only saves about £80 over the two years and i'd need to find £250 - £300 upfront.

Plus my phone is brand new (some on ebay aren't) and also i have 600mins call time and unlimited texts, 1GB internet! So not bad atall!

Slowly getting used to it! Using ChompSMS at the moment for SMS and trying to find a theme etc that i like.

Anyone recommend any good apps i should download for the S4? Started using the google keyboard which seems more accurate than the samsung one

Seems like a good phone so far!

MediaClip is a pretty good app - it lets you download videos from Youtube to your phone, no fuss. Tip - you have to watch a few seconds of the vid then click "DL"
I used to have "Youtube to MP3" (downloads Youtube video as MP3) but it is infested with Adware.
Ebay and Amazon plus Chrome are essential apps of course. Accuweather and Nova Launcher are pretty good.

Cheers man!

What does rooting your device do? Just grant you full admin rights to the phone? What can i do once it has been rooted?

I would strongly advise against it. I bought a Rooted Galaxy S2 off ebay a couple of years ago and only later when I came to sell it did I find that A) I couldn't upgrade to the latest Android version and B) It had been stolen and "flashed" with the IMEI number off an old Nokia phone. I sold it for £100 when it should have been £170.

hmmm i already rooted it but don't plan on doing any ROM flashes etc. I only did it because some apps asked for it, such as light manager.

Can i not upgrade the OS now? Hopefully i can as i'm not touching the ROM, i used Motochopper which i believe just installs some files to give admin rights, this can be removed and the device is easily unrooted i believe...hopefully someone here can confirm
