Well folks my new gpu has arrrived YAY !!! I was toooooo impatient to take pictures so here is exactly what it looks like just so you know >

Specs >> 810Mhz Core >>>> 4Ghz Mem >>> 1Gb GDDR5/128Bit >>> Up to 75W no PCIE

Currently got it crunching some POEM WU's at estimated 2.25 hours. Now me being me i thought hmm can it do more than one WU at a time ?
Well as it happens, yes, so i added a config file and now the gpu is crunching 6 x POEM WU's @ 2.25hours. The gpu usage is only at 73% so i suppose i could run more WU's on it but im happy to see how well it does with six for now.

I will be trying all my favored projects, and in the new thread post results as to credits/24hrs ( or PPD ) for those who may find it useful. What i like so far is that i can now run most projects i like, and also the gpu does not require any additional power other than that provided by the motherboard ( NO PCIE 6 pin needed ).

To top it all off, it is around 25-27c in my room but the card is still running super cool !!

CPU

Idle = 32c
Load = 41-48c

GPU

Idle = 29c
load = 41c

Will do at some point thumb.gif Im just gonna let it run several different tasks over the coming weeks then get an average. So far it looks quite productive for a low power card, certainly better than a 3870 biggrin.gif

Too bad your mobo doesn't support PCIe 2.0/2.1 That would decrease your POEM times by a significant margin.

also, I find it surprising that the core2 cpu can feed 6 POEM tasks at once to your GPU with no runtime hit. You sure it's got 6 going at once?

Yes all 6 WU's run and i found the final run time to be around 3Hrs for 6 x WU's, i have dropped it down to 4 x WU's and the cpu is no longer at 100% but times are slightly shorter ( 5100-7200 Sec 1.40hrs- 2hrs ). In the end whether i run 6 or 4 WU's the average times work around to the same amount of credit. As follows....

6x POEM WU's ( 2925 Credit per WU = 17550 ) @ 3Hrs Divided into 24Hr period = 8 X 17550 = 140400 Credit / PPD
4x POEM WU''s ( 2925 Credit per WU = 11700 ) @ 2Hrs Divided into 24Hr period = 12 X 11700 = 140,400 Credit / PPD

Im testing solo collatz atm, but as you can see from above it can put out a reasonable amount of credit for such low power use. Solo collatz is running around 1hr 36 Min per WU atm with no config file adjustments ( if any can apply to this card i don't know ? ). Mini Collatz ( although pointless ) i have not managed to test as all WU's fail within seconds ? But id like to get some numbers up for that for reference only ( though i think it's around 12 minutes per WU ).

Yeah it is a shame about the motherboard but it is all i had lying around ( Boy i miss my Asus Blitz Extreme 775 Board biggrin.gif ), however if i come across a better one i will likely upgrade. I have another HD3870 coming on Friday to make up a matching pair , only £10 so i thought meh why not. But it's like an addiction i can't help myself from buying more stuff ha ha, spare bits all over the place ! Lol

Very interesting. Usually 1 thread will cap out 1 cpu core with POEM (although this may only be the case with higher end GPUs/ higher PCIe frequencies). At least that is the case with my 670 (4x POEM WU's = 100% CPU usage with my 2500k).

Ha, yes it is an addiction, but addictions to science are yummy and good!
