Why is it that you think ATI is no longer good. Just because they have not released their R600 cards does not mean they are the lessor of the two. Lets be honest, if ATI manages to pull of the specs that they are touting, they the G80 is going to have some serious competition. ATI might be late to the race, but imo they might have the faster car.
Thats the whole point! Who can release the best card befor the other! You know every one (like me) that whanted to upgrade, have allready upgraded to christmas. When ati is releasing their dx10 card almost every one have upgraded to 8800gts/gtx. Thats true or have i missed something? And now its soon christmas now then can sell like hell...

Nvidia's chipsets for AMD have been quite good the past few years,

for Intel, a bit lacking.

Crossfire caught on quicker with Intel, ATI. But as for people who do stuff after market, personal preferance. I chose Nvidia because I'l like to SLi someday, and I was planning on AMD for SLI

Im afraid thats not how it works, atleast not imo. Its all about who releases the better quality product. Sure, Nvidia will have a head start, however, if R600 comes out and wipes the floor with G80, what makes you think that head start will amount to anything. The point is not to release the best card before the other, the point is to release the better performing card before the market has becoming saturated by your competitor. With the way the market is today, and the prices of G80, I think its safe to say that "most" people are waiting to see what R600 will bring before upgrading, or, at the very least, to see if R600 will cause the prices of G80 to drop.

Sorry I'm an AMD lover and a diehard ATI fan. I seem to always destroy nVidia cards so I stick with ATI, plus they used to be Canadian so I was supporting the home team!

I won my computer at the Nvidia Reality Tour '06. Only money I put into this computer has been one G80 for SLI, the X-FI, and the Tuniq. Prior to winning this rig my plans were to wait for R600.
