Laptop like Lenovo Helix?

Thread Starter
I need a laptop for college. I know the Surface Pro is similar to the Helix but its more of a tablet with a nice keyboard accessory to me. So is there anything like the Lenovo Helix out there that is almost like a perfect hybrid between tablet and laptop? My use case is obviously for college so plenty of school work, and im going into network management so there is some programming involved. My understanding is programming is a little CPU heavy but nothing too major but correct me if im wrong. Also I will do light 3D modeling, photo editing, video editing, and gaming but I do most of that on my desktop so the only time ill be doing any of that is when im bored and on the go. The reason I dont want to just get the Helix is because its out of my price range, id like to keep it around $1,000 but absolutly not more thatn $1500 USD. Please help me out. Thanks
If you dont know what the Lenovo Helix is here is a youtube video demoing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2nLkr_aJD0

if you're looking to save some money, you might be able to pick up either the x61 or x201t cheaper than the helix on your local craigslist.
