Thinking about delidding my 4770k - Page 2

Reapplied my thermal grease for the fourth time within the last few days. It's about the same as before. After about 20 minutes of being at 100% the temperature will start to creep up to 100C. The temperatures of the H100i never go above 41C though.

I'm really not sure what exactly is the problem. Does my processor just have really terrible TIM/a lot of glue applied or is my H100i broken?

Have you checked the vcore in the os while under load?

How could it be incorrectly installed? They're not exactly complicated to install... Unless I missed something insanely obvious...

Your bios seems to be malfunctioning, reset it first by removing the battery for 30min or more, then immediately afterward update to the latest bios

I just did and the temps were no different. It's so odd, it's fine for the first 20 minutes and it stays within the 72C-78C range and then after that it just shoots up to over 90C...

Though, I set the voltage back to auto and noticed the Vcore went up to 1.260. That doesn't seem like it should warrant the temperatures I'm getting though.

Sounds like my 3770k that gets 90-95C regardless of cooler at 1.28v. Tried on a $450 custom water cool setup and a D14, exactly same temps.

Also are you sure it's not "shooting up" after 20 minutes because Prime95 starts using 8k FFTs instead of 1024k FFTs? If your running the blend preset, about 20 minutes in all processors are going to skyrocket. 100% load still has massively different temps based on what it's processing.

I think you are now good to delid, that behavior is weird, I don't see how the power management circuits in your chip can be that ballistic
