Headphones + Clip on mic for less than $100?

Thread Starter
I'm looking for some good headphones that I can combine with a clip on mic for less than $100. I listen to lots of chiptune and trance music. I'd like the headphones to be a little bit bassy. These will be primarily for music, gaming is secondary. Thanks in advance for any help! smile.gif

I just got this modmic a few days ago and I like it. I'm not that experienced in headphones to recommend any.

Creative Aurvana Live!  + Audio-Technica ATR4650 mic

That should meet your needs and save you money.

Where do you live? I would take superlux hd 681, they have enough bass for electronic music.
For the price, they are steal. (19-30 Euros/Dolllars)

http://www.amazon.com/Superlux-681-Dynamic-Semi-Open-Headphones/dp/B002GHIPYI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1372618509&sr=1-1&keywords=hd+681

They sound like AKG K701 with more bass, and bit brighter at high frequencies.
HD 681s are easier to drive too, no amp necessary.

Zalman clip mic is good, but modmic aint bad choice either. Pick one which suits your budget.

And do you need sound isolation??

Personally I have a set of Audio Technica ATH-AD500's with a Zalmann clip-on mic and I love them. I've had them for about 6 months and I'm very pleased. These headphones are so comfortable and you can wear them for hours and hours on end and your ears/head won't hurt! Their sound is impressive for the price. I listen to some on the same types of music (Electronic etc.) and I have never been dissapointed by their sound. As for the Zalmann clip-on mic I've never had any problems with it. My friends always say they can hear me loud and clear.

(PS It is not required that you have a soundcard to run these headphones but it does greatly improve their performance! I would highly recommend the ASUS Xonar DG as an entry level soundcard, I own one and I like it for what it is. Nothing too fancy.)

The best part is, is that all three of those things put together will come in right around $100! thumb.gif

Could also consider Sony MDR-V6 with ModMic or Zalman Mic.
For 8 dollars over budget could get AD-700 and a Zalman clip on, it's what im going with smile.gif
post #9 of 9
I would avoid the AD700's if you want bassy headphones. The AD700's are known to be very light on bass.
