Need help build new pc.

Thread Starter
My main question is regarding bandwidth for the pci express slots. Does a tri sli of 770's max out the bandwidth of pci express 2.0? Is 16x/8x/8x still fine?
Im building around the fact I want to tri sli 770's and use my old gtx 460 for physx.
Im tech savvy but when it comes to the bandwidth issues of pci express I get lost.

should I go 3.0 or 2.0? should I wait for amd's new processor? I do have brand loyalty to AMD for a cpu.

Im pretty sure you wont have any bandwidth issues with 2.0 at 8x with a 770. Have you thought about getting two 780s instead, it would be about the same price and much more practical.

2 x GTX 780 will be much better than 3 x GTX 770.

Yes you will still be fine but you will still notice s slight performance decrease.

For 3 cards and more, I suggest Intel Ivy-B or haswell or SB-E.

Thanks KaRLiToS, Tons of great info. In my assumption it would be better for pci 3.0. I believe. I would want to run High resolutions later on and the results show 3.0 is worth it for higher resolutions. Now the question is there any true 3.0 16x boards that are worth it.

Edit: Here is a rough draft of my new build, I took out the second 780 for the moment since it isnt all that important right now. Will this Cpu be a bottleneck for three 780 in the distant future?

KaRLiToS, are you sure that that graph had the 770 in Tri SLI? All I am seeing is basic SLI for the 770 and 780 with the only Tri SLI being the Titan. Unless the one doing the test had the 770s in Tri SLI and made the mistake while making the graph.

Is the ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 worth the money, and Is it really PCIe 3.0. I keep seeing mixed review.

If you wanna do Two way SLI or 3 way sli, I suggest i7 4770k. You'll regret AMD with multiple GPUs mate. (Or sandy-Bridge E / socket 2011 / i7 3930k)

I just can't wait for them to create a nice CPU. I love AMD VERY much but I can't suggest AMD for multiple GPUS.
