i currently have a core 2 quad q8200 8gb ram paired with a 9800gt 512mb of ram.
i'm looking to upgrade to a card that can play borderlands 2 on high with physx at 1680x1050 resolution
my price limit is 300$-350$

Look at the 7870ghz edition. That should do the trick just fine. If sticking with nvidia try to find a used gtx670

btw i'm not going to be buying it until the end of july.

The early consensus here @ OCN is that the MSI version you linked to is the best GTX 760 available.
