Help buidling an 800$ gaming set up

Thread Starter
I was wondering if someone could build me an 800$ gaming set up, including windows, a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse. The keyboard and mouse can be cheap, it doesn't really matter. I'd like to overclock if it isn't too complicated.biggrin.gif:D:D:D

This is the build that I came up with. I assumed that you wanted to game at 1920x1080 and the BenQ monitor is a steal if you ask me. As for the GPU, I really wanted to fit a 7850 2GB into this build, but it was killing the budget by $50, but I think that it may be worth that extra fifty bucks for a Sapphire 7850 2Gb. The XFX PSU is on super sale right now, so that puts it within the budget and also gives you some head room for OC'ing your CPU and GPU. I have a Phenom 965 BE and it is a little champ. OC's easy, I got 3.8ghz w/ 1.4v on mine with a CM 212 EVO heat sink, never went over 50C at full load. Nothing much to say about the Logitech mouse/keyboard combo, it is not expensive but I trust Logitech. I also threw in a four pack of fans since you want to OC and that Cooler Master case has a lot of fan options. I feel like you may benefit from adding about $100 more to your budget, that way you could get a 990FX MoBo, 7850,

The first build is the one right at the $800 mark.

This second build I put together upgrades the MoBo, CPU, and GPU and it only breaks the budget by $80. So it may be worth saving up some more because the FX-6300 will hit 4.0ghz and you will be happier in the long run I think.

You could always switch it out for Windows 7, because they are the same price.

$800? Every uninformed gaming news site commenter knows that you need at LEAST $1500 to build a gaming computer! And you'll need to upgrade it next year! tongue.gif

Take out Windows 8 and that CX PSU and that MoBo is not that great for OC'ing with a 6+2 power phase, it is doable, but not that stable. Also, no heatsink for the CPU that the OP wants to OC. The XFX PSU that I suggested is the same price right now as the CX and it has 50 more watts and it is Bronze rated, not much higher than the CX, but it is higher quality. Nice finds on the monitor and keyboard and that NZXT case is cool. Cheers.
