Because the law is unclear and as lways with NPM agencies try to increase revenue.

Different taxes, I'm pretty sure you have to apply for a permit to hold a public gathering in the US, a Movie theater already has that permit and thus it's excluded not because of arbitrary laws but simply the inherent difference between the two things.

Ah you're going overboard. THe fact of the matter is that this "idea" because it hasn't been pased yet is aimed at establishments and not private gatherings.

Private: You and specific people.
Public: Anyone.

It's the public one that's in question, no taxes can be levied against private gatherings unless there are monetary transactions.

Yes but the thing that sounded silly wasn't the real thing.

FACTS about this article:

-No mention of loophole
-No mention of cyber cafes
-No mention of avoiding paying taxes for gambling
-No mention of virtual casinos

Do you even English?

My source is a Swedish citizen, who said the article is taken way out of context. It's a response to gambling operations that are bypassing taxes by labeling themselves cybercafes. You have likely formulated your entire opinion from a secondary source. This is common on internet forums, and it's a bad idea. At least view a 2nd secondary source if you are to form a proper opinion on a matter.

Again, Dreamhack and similar community style gatherings are exempt.
