But I see your point.

yellow you say thinking.gif

well i have a couple of options with the case; its either going to be matte red (R4E), orange (Z87 OC Force), green (G1 Sniper 5) or yellow (Sabertooth Z87).
and im very surprised with myself; i usually can make a rig on request for less than 30 mins, but i've spent more than 30 mins just to select a motherboard poke.gif

can you help me decide between those 4 boards and nothing else? cpu is going to be either 3930K or 4770K, no 3820 for this warrior redface.gif

i dont think i said 3820 was full of swag; but kids tend to say "hashtag yolo" when they do stupid stuff wink.gif

Update: decided to wait on the card; im not going to purchase it at the moment (because i want EVGA SC) and since im going to a couple of stores when im in the states, im just going to see if i can hunt one down. if not, i'll get a PNY one.

Update 2: My decision still is here, im going to go for X79, and if for any reason that fails i'll go with the 4770K+ Z87 OC/G1 Sniper/Sabertooth+Xonar STX.
I can't find any legit comparos, so i guess its all up to my liking from now on. redface.gif

What kind of comparison do you want?
For CPU performance just look at 4770K reviews. In gaming a 4770K is generally faster than a Sandy Bridge-E because of slightly higher IPC performance. SBE only has the edge for calculations and heavily-multithreaded stuffs.

thanks, will check.
but the thing that matters mainly is that the performance in GTA 4 and the upcoming GTA 5. I know a guy who has a 3770K and a GTX680 doing crashtesting with modded cars on GTAIV, but i dont know if he has all cars installed at once, or mods the car and after the shoot he deletes it. that is what im very skeptical of; the main reason im spending anything over $1500 is to play GTA4 with heavy graphic mods, 40-50 cars modded and at the highest settings possible which wont drop my FPS under 35. A friend's 680SLI and 3930K can handle it; it can handle it with the SLI disabled (yes i did test that) but in that case the CPU is untested for effects.

but after reading some news online, and seeing Haswell-E is released around 2014, might as well get the 4770K and upgrade to Broadwell at around 2015, then after that i'll see what comes up.

so im down to either a Sabertooth with Xonar STX or a G1 Sniper 5. case will be yellow or green depending on the board selection; and i'll match other things. i just need to pick a solid board and then go with it.

With a yellow case an UD5H would be perfect. wink.gif

BTW GTA V will be console-only (unless they decide to port it afterwards, cough). Not even a next-gen title.

and im currently down to

1-4770K, Sabertooth and Xonar STX
2-4770K, G1 Sniper

and maybe 3930K if i can thumb.gif

Watch Dogs by Ubisoft, and on another genre The Witcher 3 by CD Projekt RED.

oh yes
i saw the multiplayer patch of that and i went "i want this"

so yes can i get a motherboard recommendation? the sabertooth seems way more beneficial for me since i would be getting a discrete sound card but the sniper just yells "pick me pick me"

I'd say it's really a toss-up between the two then - but I think there will probably be more builds using the Sabertooth (based on past history) so for that reason alone I'd say go for the Sniper! biggrin.gif
post #130 of 522
Something just doesn't feel right with the sniper I guess I just don't like how a motherboard can be more expensive than the highest tier CPU of the platform not to mention its basically the same price as a RIVE tongue.gif
