Looking for build advice (Sales screwed me up)

Thread Starter

I had a build in my cart @ newegg and I was going to order this morning but I noticed the build has now been screwed up cause there is no Longer a 4670K and UD3H mobo deal for $330.00 so now I need to adjust because i had a specific budget  for the build and now I feel that budget may be screwed up.

Quote:
I need a Mobo & CPU around $345.00 OR I will have to drop the 7970 to a 760 which drops my overall Price by $65.00

If I drop my GPU to lets say a GTX 760 the total price would be $620.00 so that would leave me with $410.00 to  work with on a Mobo + CPU but I really want the 7970

I game at 1080P only & I more then likely wont OC a ton maybe a little

I have around 1030.00 for this build. here is what I have left in my cart.

You can drop a few things / change a few parts to drop the price enough to get your 7970:

Corsair CX500 ($60)
Drop the fans and heatsink for now
Switch to 4GB memory kit (should drop ~ $12)

Your total saved with those alone should be ~$75

You wouldn't be able to go with that much of an o/c on your CPU (anything that doesn't raise voltage) but that wouldn't be limiting to your GPU. The CX500 is more than enough power, and the 4GB kit won't effect gaming, only if you have lots of open programs. Just my 2 cents on how to save $$ now and when you get some extra cash later you can drop in a new cooler, fans and a bit more memory.

That will leave me $162.00 or less to find a MOBO

Motherboards I'd go with are:

MSI Z87-G45 - $159.99

or

ASRock Z87 Extreme4 - $159.99

both are nicely featured boards which support SLI / CFX with proper spacing.
