What size 2560x1440 monitor are you using?

All this debate goes from one thread to another, in fact I might give up reading anything to do with fps anymore. A Titan struggles to give good fps in today's at 1080p games, what about the future?

So all you hear well 2560x1440 you don't need mssa etc, well I like a 32 '' screen and could never go back in size, and the same for most here, if you jumped from 21 - 24 - 27 and so on.

And when you buy your top notch card , don't you want the best eye candy with good fps?

1080p isn't a bad resolution, but now the trend is get the 2560x1440 monitor and all the headaches that come with it, double your hardware, cost running it as well, so much green earth biggrin.gif

Games are getting better graphically - monitors are increasing resolution - and a single graphics card are getting behind redface.gif

I'm using a 27" Dell (U2713HM).
I took quite a big performance hit going from 1920x1080 to 2560x1440 but I was fully aware that was going to be the case and I had anticipated the need for an upgrade.
The only question was how to best spend my limited funds to make the most of the new resolution.
I'm drooling over the articles presenting the 31.5" 3840x2160 monitors, but (luckily for me?) I can't even think about affording one never mind the insane amount of hardware required to drive that resolution.

Besides games, how do you get on with reading text on internet sites etc, font size will be so much smaller ?

I find 27" @ 2560x1440 (~109ppi) extremely comfortable on the eyes. I get loads of content on the screen at any given time.
My work laptop is 15.6" @ 1920x1080 (~140ppi) so I'm quite used to the higher density.

I've exchanged both EVGA cards for the MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr:

I was not happy with the temps on the EVGA cards. They were constantly hitting 82C and throttling.
The MSI cards seem to be the coolest models I can get my hands up.
I'll find out tonight if the exchange was a good idea smile.gif

Those MSI have bigger fans, so cooling should not be a problem.

Also, if i am not mistaken, the 760 will hit 80C cuz it OC the Boost up to what ever it can and stay under 80C. So that might have something to do with it.

Yeah, I'm still trying to get a grip on this boost thing.
With the fans running at 40-50% the MSI hits 80C on GPU1.
With the fans running at 100% the MSI keeps well below 80C on GPU1 even when overclocked.
At the preset speeds, both GPUs boost to the same speed.
When I manually OC the cards I seem to get a 13Mhz difference between GPU1 and GPU2.

BOOST 2.0: Will OC the GPU till a Temp limit is reached (80C) or a TDP Limit (Power) is reached. You can Edit both IIRC, so it will OC higher.

If you ramp up the Fans to 100%, the BOOST 2.0 Should** OC more. Don't quote me on that, but unless it hits a TDP limit it should hit 1200+.

The 2 cards will OC differently since their 2 different GPU Batches. Not even GPU's on the same "Batch" will OC the same, but they tend to be closer.

The strange thing is swapping GPU1 and GPU2 around gives the same behavior but on the opposite GPU. The primary GPU boosts 13Mhz faster regardless which physical GPU is in that slot. It is also strange that it is the primary that boosts higher, because it is also the hotter (nearly 10C) running GPU because it is running above the secondary.

Only thing i can think of is the Top card is got a full x16 lanes on it and is closer to PCI power? I honestly don't have a clue besides that.
