[Build Log] Sleek & Clean Obsidian 350D [Getting picture heavy]

So, all these build logs and a few in particular, made me want to do some major improments to my current setup, which is an old Q6600 on a Striker II NSE board, 8 GB RAM and an ugly-a** case.

So, underneath you can see the parts i received yesterday

Setup will be as follows
i5-4670K
Asus Z87M-Plus
Gigabyte GTX 670 WindForce
OCZ Vertex 3, 240 GB SSD
Antec 620W (Not modular - but it only hold the cables i need - rest is removed already)
2 x 4 GB G.Skill Ripjaws X @ 2133 MHz

CPU cooler's a Arctic Freezer i30
3 NoiseBlocker NB-eLoop B12-PS (PWM fans)
Arctic Cooling RC - RAM coolers, instead of the stock red ones which'll kill the look!

Edit: I've decided to purchase the Corsair Obsidian 350D, and then see if i can't use that 5,25" cover as a DVD faceplate/bezel.

And today i'm expecting my sleeving, CPU cooler and a couple of fans and tools.
Unfortunately i was a bit panicky when i ordered those last items, so i forgot shrinking flex, new ATX pins, SATA pins and some other bits.

So i'll be ordering those today, expecting arrival tomorrow.
I'll be buying the Arctic Cooling RC memory coolers, because my G.Skill Ripjaws are read, and i'd like to keep the system 2-tone (black and yellow/gold and not black, yellow/god AND red) except for my fans, which are all white with black frames, which brings me to the need of MDPC, and hoping Nils' "Vanilla Sands" will keep the look somewhat clean.

But, i'm still in a pickle, because i have absolutely NO idea whatsoever, which case i'll buy!

I've had my eyes on both the Lian Li PC-V354 and Corsair Obsidian 350D (already had the 550D but its now to big).

Any opinions?

Lian Li cases are gorgeous, especially if its near any posh tv setup etc smile.gif
this one catches my eye as being smaller than your average case
http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Lian+Li+PC-A04B+Midi+Tower+Aluminum+Case+?productId=50342

The 350D is great but I think too expensive for what you get, but thats just my opinion smile.gif

of course there is silverstone to consider

Look at Silverstone TJ08-E or SG10, the Prodigy mATX is coming out soon too.

I did consider the Lian Li - always been a fan!
But i would have liked more options to hide cables, as i really love that clean cableless look! biggrin.gif

I've got a Prodigy ITX in the store i work at, and absolutely hate it because it's so bulky tonguesmiley.gif

But the TJ08-E is definitely a great looking case! I was just afraid that the 180mm fan was too loud, but i see now that it's around 18 db on low rpm, so that would actually fit quite nicely on the desk!! thumb.gif

And it's quite affordable!

Naturally, danish online shop Coolerkit.dk did not ship the rest of my needed stuff, so i hope i'll receive it during tomorrow so i can get going on sleeving!
Only did the CPU fan today, but i need the heat shrink to finish up.. Just kills to wait! frown.gif

Still nothing from coolerkit.. I did call them though, and they didn't understand why i hadn't received it and simply shipped my stuff ones more.. So hopefully tomorrow, friday.. rolleyes.gif

Did get some stuff done though.

And because my motherboard only has 2 case fan header (not including CPU fan), i had to make a y-splitter from the cables that came with 2 of the NoiseBlocker fans.

Might be too long, but i'll adjust that when i've received my Obsidiban 350D (which i ordered this evening)

Also sleeved my case fans - turned out quite alright i reckon! smile.gif

Opinions welcome! thumb.gif

Sounds interesting . . . Is this going to be an internal mod only or are you planning some mods to the case itself as well? smile.gif

Subbed

Cheers

Mostly internal, and perhaps some refinement of that 5,25" slot.
I'd like if i can, to use that 5,25" cover as a DVD faceplate/bezel!

But other than that, i'll have to wait and see.

Maybe i'll do something about the top, as i'll only be using front and rear fan slots (since my CPU cooler is to large and will not be able to push the air towards the top of the case. biggrin.gif

Thanks for subbing too!
