If you all have a spare box at home you should try pfSense (FreeBSD). You need 2 NIC cards (one for your internet connection and the other for a switch). It acts as a firewall/router.. but way more advanced. There are so many options it's unbelievable for the price (free..)

I run it on like .. PII 200mhz with 16mb of RAM or something.. and it's flawless. It has a very minimal footprint. If anyone wants help setting it up we can start a thread about it.. but I believe that this beast I have is best. Instead of buying a router, you put one of these babies in your network (at the front), and then a switch.. and it does the rest of the work. It's not plug and play but it does the job and damn well at that.

So what I'm trying to say is I use pfSense as my firewall and you all should too
