8350 vs 8320

Thread Starter
Is the AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core $144.99 or the AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core $180.98 a better deal? Does one overclock better than the other? hwbot.com leads me to believe the avg overclock on air for both of them is 4700 MHz. Does this forum concur with hwbot.com on this matter? I use my machine for chess analysis where best results come form more cores and higher speeds, however it must all be balanced with a poor man's minimum wage part-time budget.

If value is the concern here the 8320 is definitely the better deal. With a 8350 you might have a slightly bigger chance of getting a better OCing chip but overall it's just luck of the draw with all the chips. For the huge majority of cases you're basically buying an unerclocked 8350 for less money. Great deal for peeps who OC.

Though as the holder of the world record for 8320 clock speeds I might be a bit biased tongue.gif

OMG nice bro!! I am privileged to get advice form you. I'm ordering a chip now!! WOW Love your work man, thanks again!!

If both are unlocked, get 8320. They are essentially the same chip. If both are unlocked multi, AND you plan on overclocking, definitely go with the cheaper one - you'll be getting the exact same end-product.

Thank you! It's ordered! But oh no, is it possible I ordered an unlocked model? It said black edition, that's the indicator that's it is unlocked right?
Black edition is the "unlocked" version.

Never mind, I ctrl+f'd the purchase page for 'unlocked'. It is indeed unlocked! Thank you again for the privilege of getting advice from you Alatar! Ronnin your reinforcement was perfectly timed! Thank you both very much! Thank you also Boi Ida!

I was about to start a new thread on this topic--I'm glad I searched the forum first.

So basically there's likely better binning for the 8350's, but that's about it?

I was 100% going to get an 8350 but now I might just get an 8320.

I plan to overclock anyways--I currently have an FX 4170 Oc'd to 4.6 on air with low voltage.

However, I might even go custom wc loop if I get an 8320 biggrin.gif
