Cheap ASUS M5A78-M LX Plus. add VRM coolers to get a boost?

Thread Starter
I'm looking to overclock my emubox/HTPC rig because it's just to slow to run some of my emulators. However, even with an H60 i can only eek out about 400mhz out of it. And i think thats from the board as it lacks VRM heatsinks. My question is, if i buy these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708012 Will it help out my OC?

Second, I have an old sock A Heatsink that pretty much looks identical to this: http://images.esellerpro.com/2131/I/432/41/scaleDCP_1521.jpg I know copper is better at heat convection, But will the sheer amount of overall surface area? Of course i intend to take a hack saw and cut it down to size.

What CPU are you using in there anyway?

I probably wouldn't bother with any voltage bumps on a 3+1 board.

Sorry, should have pointed that out, it's a 965 BE. So far voltage bumps seem useless. Hence why i figured it was the VRMs holding me back, as i got the 400mhz without raising the voltage

Yuck, even with heatsinks that'd probably end up killing the board at some point anyway.

What emulator are you trying to run?

PCSX2 for fighting/multiplayer games, and Dolphin for pretty much the same thing. The GC side of Dolphin works great. Wii side can be iffy at times.
