TEmp1=cpu?
If yes, then you're running hot....

I agree. For not being loaded at all, you are running hot. I think the stock Intel cooler does better then that.

Do you have any aftermarket cooling on it or anything??

well my computer was prebuilt from velocity micro and apparently it has a " Intel® Certified Oversized Heatsink/Fan with Arctic Silver™ 5 Thermal Compound, Thermal Controlled Variable Speed Fan"

should i be able to see the as5 by just looking near the fan?

how should i go about fixing my temps? i want them to be good for future overclocking....

btw what is the best program to use to check my temps most accurately.....the core temp beta thing?

That is just the stock cooler from Intel for C2D's. If it came from a site, it probably just has the cheapy Intel thermal pad/paste thing that comes on the bottom of all the stock coolers when it is first used.

You will have to buy Arctic Silver 5 and then take the heatsink off and reseat it. You might want to just buy an aftermarket cooler, as the stock Intel one isn't very good. If you are looking at a budget, go with a TT BT and if you want to spend a little more, go with the Tuniq Tower 120. It is the best air cooler out there, just hard to find them sometimes as they sell out so quick.

EDIT: It says it has Arctic Silver on it, but it also says it has an "Oversized Intel Heatsink", but that is just an ordinary stock Intel heatsink for C2D's. I guess "oversized" is determined solely by them.

Thanks for the advice . . . so should i stick to what speedfan is saying is my temps and just get aftermarket cooling already? or dl a new more accurate prog and get back to you guys....i plan to overclock sometime, but not soon. is it hard to apply an aftermarket cooler? can a newb do it? btw y is my computer overly hot? what could be the reasons? ty btw my 7900gs is usually around 50C according to atitool....is that bad too?

I am using an e6600 and I have it at 3.0 GHz on the stock cooling. It runs at 56-59 at load with orthos. I took the readings with coretemp.
The moral of the story is that if you have temps like the ones shown in the beginning of th thread, even with the stock cooling, You have something very very wrong.

To me either one as long use the 100% of the cpu load.If is 42c 100% load is no that bad and if is OC if not is hot.
