Is it worth buying this AMD Mega Bundle?

OCUK have listed the AM Mega bundle for July with participating amd gpus, the games include:

- Farcry3
- Farcry3 Blood Dragon
- Dirt Showdown
- Tomb Raider
- Simcity
- Bioshock Infinite
- Crysis 3
- Sleeping Dogs

Is it worth buying an AMD gpu to upgrade from a gtx 570 for 1080p gaming and 1440p gaming within the next 6 months?

Yeah, I'd definitely say it's worth it! 7970's can be found so cheaply round now (around $300) and then you get all of those games to go with it! That's what got me to upgrade to a 7970 from my old 560 Ti. Go for it! You won't be disappointed. thumb.gif

(PS the next series of cards that AMD releases will be way more expensive than the current generation 7xxx series. So I'd say get one while the going is good)

Hmm if I were you I would wait and upgrade when the hd 9000 series comes out bc your card now is fine for 1080. Plus they will have another mega bundle. So yea I vote get 9000 with your 1440p monitor biggrin.gif

The thing is I need a 7970 that is voltage unlocked, but capable of having a full waterblock on it as I plan to WC too. I can only pick from this list - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=56&subid=1502

Do any of these quantify unlocked voltage but capable of full VGA block?

Im half inclined to buy one of those 7850s and sell the games, it would make the card near on free. Apparently that is built on a 7870 PCB too, what about two of those 7850s in crossfire? Sell both sets of games and get crossfire 7850 for like £150.

I keep feeling like this, but then I think well a 7970 offers great value at the minute and if It wasnt enough for 1440p I could always crossfire later on. With this game bundle it seems like such a good deal.

I have a buddy that had this same exact card and it ran HOT. I had to re-paste the GPU and buy an aftermarket cooler to lower the temps.

If you are going to get a 7950 make sure it has a good cooler, especially if you are going to OC.

can anyone confirm if that MSI HD 7950 OC card here - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-203-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1502

Is the same card that includes unlocked voltage/reference design/7970 pcb?

Theres a club here but I dunno if its same card - http://www.overclock.net/t/1281711/hd7950-revised-with-reference-hd7970-pcb-club/0_100
