As far as I know, the biggest difference is the flash memory used.
the 840 has 'TLC' and the Pro has 'MLC'. I hear the MLC is rated for more cycles.. so in the long run they Pro would live a little longer.. although by the time the 840 dies anyway (still rated for quite some time), I imagine SSD prices will have lowered even further..
