MSI mobo and I7 3770k OC help

Thread Starter
I bought an I7 3770k and it is in a MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard. I'm having problems overclocking past 4.5, and to be at 4.5, i have voltage of 1.34 otherwise, if I go lower I BSOD. Max temps at 85C with Prime95. So ive been contemplating whether or not i should buy another 3770K. This is my last effort after all the research. Here is what i have for Hardware and my bios settings.

Hardware
- I7 3770K delidded
- MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard
- H100i cpu watercooler
- 16gb Partriot ram 2133mhz
- Gigabyt GTX 670 with ARCTIC Accelero Hybrid cooler
- Corsair CX750 PSU
- SSD HD

BIOS
- CPU base frequency / 100.3mhz
- CPU ratio / 4.5
- Internal PLL Overvoltage / Enabled
- EIST / Enabled
- Intel Turbo Boost / Disabled
- Enhanced Turbo / Disabled
- Memory Fast boot / Enabled
- Spread Spectrum / Enabled
- CPU core Vdroop Offset Control / Auto
- Digital Compensation Level / Auto
- CPU Core OCP Expander / Default
- CPU Core Switing Frequency / Auto
- CPU core voltage / 1.34
- CPU I/O Voltage / Auto
- System Agent Voltage (SA) / Auto
- CPU PLL Voltage / Auto

I havent been OC long and looked everywhere for help. I want to hit 5Ghz so i can justify a custom water loop over what i have now. But if i cant get the CPU to go over 4.5 it wont be worth it. Also 1.34v seems high for 4.5 so i would like to get that down either way. Right now i run at 4.2 on Auto Cpu Voltage.

Might want to check the msi forums. Lots of info on overclocking that board and cpu over there.

From what ive seen posted that's not a fairly uncommon voltage for that speed. Kinda on the higher end of the scale though.

Ive read somewhere that adjusting cpu pll voltage helps with temps, but don't know about voltage requirements.

Also Ive read there is a setting of how much wattage to let the cpu take in, but don't know if that will help your voltage requirements either.

Sorry I couldn't be much help.

The board is a very simple one to overclock with, you are more than likely suffering from a luck of the draw CPU. My 3570k has done 5.0, it took 1.45v. I run it now at 4.6 and 1.25v. Its your decision if you really want to try another CPU to run at a 5.0 you don't even need most likely, then turn around and spend more on a custom loop.
