AAND ... LGA1155 is pretty much a dead platform, LGA1150 runs too hot.
He just wants a cheap upgrade in proper games like BF3 8350 is just too far ahead of a 4350. It's not just slightly faster, slightly faster for people stuck in 2007 (Who only cares about single core performance) that is.
For streaming+gaming of course the 8350 will trump the i5 bang for buck (even on a new computer) because 1) He already has a decent motherboard. Unless it was a crap motherboard we would all ask him to jump to Intel, but no. 990XA-UD3 is a decent mobo

an intel i7 is the pinnacle of performance, imo a sbe 3930k system would be the only option when considering a gaming machine.
with gtx 770s in sli, you've got the money to burn so get yourself an intel system.

if you get the 770, and only play at 1080p, not 1440p or triple monitor resolutions, the 8350 is as good for gaming as the 3570,
but excels at pushing everything else you're doing with your computer, multiple browsers, h264 encoding for livestreaming, everything you're doing while you're gaming.

if you've got the money to burn on a brand new platform, go for it.
if you want to save some money (for that gtx770 right) get the 8320/50
I showed benchmarks with 7950s in CFX; those BF3 benches are with a single GTX 680. It was also for single player when we know that BF3 multi-player is much more GPU intensive.

If you're talking about multiple browsers/general usage you're not going to notice a difference between a Celeron G1610 and a i7-3930K.

LGA1155 is a dead platform that is still superior to anything from AMD. Heck LGA1366 is a dead platform that's still superior to anything from AMD.

He already said that he wants to get good performance in which case the i5/i7 will be far superior to the FX-8350 in many cases, especially with SLi.

Seriously though, he has a poll running asking what is the best price:performance upgrade... it's the 8350. People think that it can't do anything, but yet I'm getting 60FPS+ in everything I do - except Skyrim with AA and everything else maxed. Large environments drop me to 50FPS, which I can't tell

I think the FX-8350 can do something, it just does half as much as an i5/i7. thumb.gif

Now you are just being a fanboy. I'm running an 8350 at stock with 7950's in crossfire, and i get great fps in all of my games. Even in Skyrim, which the only reason it runs better on Intel is the fact that it is horribly optimized on pc and mostly runs on 2 cpu threads, which is the one weakpoint of the 8350

It's not just Skyrim.

Honestly who cares if the i5 or i7 crushes it? i personaly own a 3770k and wish i would of stuck the money into a amd now after the fact. i personally think intel needs to stand behind there products alittle more instead of launching out new 1150 chips. granted my cpu and motherboard and gpu will last for atleast 4 to 5 years but it will be the last intel based product i buy. save your money and buy an amd

Pretty sure keeping your Intel CPU/MB for 4-5 years is saving more money than upgrading every generation with AMD.

Alright, I dont trust all those graphs whatsoever. With my 8350 at stock with a couple of 7950's at 1100mhz, Im getting 130-160 fps, usually at 140, which is more than the 7970 ghz crossfire in the chart is getting. The last three charts are CHERRY PICKED. Those are well known to run better on intel as they are cpu dependent on very few threads. MOST games play the same on both the 8350 and 3770k, as most are gpu dependent. I NEVER once stated that the FX beats the intel opposite in every game, I simply stated that it can perform quite well in gaming setups.

I've noticed that you simply trash AMD in most threads you comment in. You are either a blind intel fanboy, or a troll. the majority of people on this thread have even stated already that the 8350 is the better choice in this situation, as everyone knows it is

Oh and by the way I can cherry pick graphs too, enjoy https://teksyndicate.com/videos/crysis-3-benchmarks-amd-fx-8350-vs-intel-i7-3770k-both-overclocked thumb.gif

lol honestly its pointless to argue this plain and simple. but answer me this how many people have a 120mhz refresh rate monitor? you will NOT see any difference over 60fps with out a higher refresh rate monitor
