New monitor for friend? LG IPS on sale now!

Thread Starter
I am looking at buying this monitor for a friend because it is within budget, it is IPS, and it has the VESA mount that it must have.
He will be using the monitor for web surfing, business, and other boring stuff. No gaming at all. I thought this might be a nice monitor for him, but I also thought I would see if anyone has a better recommendation.
Thank you

That is what I thought, but since it is not for me, I am double worried. smile.gif
From the reviews on newegg, it sounds like everyone is happy with it. It looks like it would be nicer than what he even asked for and it is within his budget. I am thinking about ordering it while it has a promo that will save him $30. The only complaint I see is a flimsy stand, but I already set him up with a vesa mounted stand.

Before I buy, I just wanted some second opinions!
Thank you

Price isn't that great without the discount code but it looks to be mediocre at $170 ($150 is about what I'd pay for an IPS 1080p).

It's cheaper on NCIX US and you don't need to deal with rebates. Just make sure you pay with paypal or you get slapped with international bank fee.

The coating might be too grainy depending on person using it though. (LG's site does list a Hard Coating, 3H)

I read that it has an AH-IPS screen, which is the best as far as IPS technology goes: that's the same type of panel in the ASUS PB23Q , HP Pavilion 23xi, and Dell S2340L.

If you look on TFTCentral the only AH-IPS panel from LG that's 23" is LM230WF3 -?

presumably this one ( LM230WF3-SSA1)

Ya the price is a little high, I paid $144 CAD for a 22"

Mine is the "EA63" series, which may have a different matte coating then the older ones, so you can never be 100% sure without seeing it.

i have the 22ea63, got them for 130 each. I think this isn't a bad deal. the stand is very wobbly, I ended up doing a wall mount.
this 23" has HDMI, so I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for that. the buttons are touch sensitive and can be a bit annoying at times if you reach under the buttons.
I have no complaints towards picture quality though, they're calibrated from factory and i have no dead/stuck pixels on any of the 3 i bought, no bleeding issues or burn in either.
