H100i + Scythe GT AP-15: very narrow RPM range (~1350 to 1650)

Hey everyone,

so I just built my new rig, got everything working, but I got puzzled when I was playing around with Corsair Link (trying different ways to set fan speeds, including fixed RPM and everything)... apparently my AP-15s won't go lower than about 1350 RPM, and they won't go higher than ~1650 RPM. blinksmiley.gif

The lower-than-expected max RPM would only be a minor disappointment, because really the cooling is good enough, but 1350 min RPM is just too much for what should have been a silent-while-idle computer.

Is this normal, or are my fans faulty, or did I do something wrong?
The way I've set up my H100i was exactly as described in the manual, i.e. fans attached to pump/base unit via splitter cable, pump connected to mainboard USB header...

Cheers

wait where are the fans plugged into?

If u have em connected to the pump it will stay at one speed. I have AP-14s on mine and they are stuck at 1300. You need to get PWN fans in order for the corsair link to control em.

this was my thinking, though i have no experience with the software or pump.

plug the fans into the motherboard or buy a fan controller, that should solve your issue

The fans are plugged into the pump.

And as I said, I can actually control them to some degree, so PWM is not required. The stock fans are 3-pin as well.
I was just wondering if I should somehow be able to turn them lower using Corsair Link.

Corsair fixed the issue by sending the new h100i units with PWN fans. They did this to fix the problem I was talking about. I RMAd my h100i cause of the firemware/light issues and they sent me a brand new h100i with the new PWN fans.

Oh well. I just ordered a 3-pin splitter cable so I can plug the fans directly into my mainboard. That should fix it.
