Yeah my Dads wife had some huge 1080i tube TV that was a pain in the butt to throw away. The technology is capable of producing a higher res, just like CRT monitors could do 2048x1536. Your average TV was 480i though.

My best friend is still using my old Sanyo Spectre 27" HDTV. First Flat Panel I ever bought. I think got it in 2005. He helped me get rid of that WEGA, which was a Chore it weighed over 150lbs and I lived on the 4th Floor. Another buddy of mine had a 55" Rear projection in his 8"x12" Dorm Room, and also lived on the 4th Floor. That thing took forever to get downstairs.
