with 16gb, days of looking at memory usage are pretty much over. what's the closest you've come to hit the limit?

Depends on what you do with your computer, I've hit over 12GB usage by encoding 2 HD video at once and had plenty of CPU left to do 2 others, but I would've gone over the available RAM if I'd started one more.
Granted that's not a problem most people would have, but some of us do. I had one RAM stick die on me for a little while and I couldn't use opera since it would make my computer crash by pushing the RAM usage just over the limit(when also encoding of course) since I don't use a page file.

And the thing is, some people still have old computer with less than 1GB of RAM which is very problematic with the current memory hogging softwares.

Nice new version, smooth and sleek.

Technically it removes every single reason of why I even used Opera at the first place, the customizability and skinability. I actually created my own dark themed skin for it to accommodate my dark Windows 7 theme, which I am using since years, in perfect harmony with my Opera skin (same style and design basically).

So no more new versions of Opera for me from now on, was a good, but bumpy ride Opera. Thanks for the time and fare well (but also, curse you, may you burn in hell).

Was a needed move for them though, to become a real competition for Firefox and Chrome. The older Opera was a mess honestly, incompatibilities, unoptimizations... I attempted to move to another browser several times, but the rich customization is what kept me.

Does hate-love explain my relationship with Opera? I guess yes, mostly love though.

Just about sums it up for me. While I never made a skin, I had found one I really liked. I had Opera set up how I like it since v8 or so, 9 & 10 were painless upgrades. 11 screwed up a lot of stuff, and 12 was even worse, but I was able to get it (mostly) back to how I liked it. Now, looks like I will be on 12 until I am forced off it.
