Help me choose a compact system

I'm currently looking for a new addition to my photography kit. I love my D7000 to pieces, but lugging around a D7000 and a bunch of lenses like the 17-55 f2.8 isn't always practical, so I'm looking into getting a compact system kit. I can't stress enough that this isn't a replacement for my SLR, rather a smaller system for travel purposes. With that being said, I do intend to use the compact system a lot, I'll be travelling around a variety of countries in Europe at the end of the month for example, so I'm looking for quality as well as practicality.

Ideally I'd like to spend less than £400 on the body and a mid range zoom (looking for an equivalent 35mm range of around 24-70, though I'm not sure how attainable that is on a compact system), and if I could get a reasonably fast prime lens within that budget as well, that would be fantastic.

Despite all of my gear being Nikon, I am open to offerings from all companies and I'm more than happy shopping second hand as well.

Undoubtedly some of you are a lot more clued up about compact systems than I am, and I'm sure there are many of you with CSC's out there who can offer me opinions and advice! smile.gif

I own the Canon S110 & its a great small camera. The image Quality is pretty good & it also fits in the pocket.

The Sony Rx100 should be the best option if it is in your price range.
Consider the LX7 too. I think it probably is better than S110 but not pocketable (I don't have any experience with this camera)

Cheers for the reply, I'm not too bothered about the camera being pocketable as such, I always tend to have some sort of bag with me. I've heard great things about the RX100, it's something I am considering.
