Asus G53S overheating issue

My brother has the laptop in the thread name, and it is Running way hotter than it should be. The GPU is running at 58 degrees idle, but he could not give me an exact temp on the CPU, but that is way hotter than normal as well. His mobo is running at around 70 degrees. We tried underclocking is GpU and cpu, but the program will not allow manual voltage control, nor fan speed control. As this is quite the expensive laptop, he would prefer it worked properly until he can call Asus on Monday. We tried using MSI afterburner to underclock the GPU.

Thanks

I have a Macbook Pro with a GPU that runs at 65c idle and a CPU that runs at 60c idle. It isn't exactly safe but I've been using it that way for a long time. Laptops do tend to get quite hot so purchasing an external laptop fan can help the temps.

You can also disassemble the laptop (which may void your warranty) and reapply the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. Here is a video on how to do that: http://youtu.be/-hNgFNH7zhQ

I hope this helped! biggrin.gif

Thanks, he took it apart to see what he could do, but couldn't do much without voiding the warranty. He called and they said they would look at it, but he still has to pay for it. But they tell him it's something like that he will probably re apply the thermal paste himself. Thanks for the video!
